10/20/03 Nothing new on the car as of this week. It's dirty as heck and needs a good bath.
The weather has been perfect and really enjoyed playing paintball this weekend.
Warped Sports was holding a paintball tournament this weekend in Florida so we went ot play at Swat, in Saucier.
I had a good day, learned alot about hyperball and speed ball. I may even be getting a new painball marker. Stay tuned.

10/28/03 Nothing new here either. I just sold the Ford Fairmont for 100 bucks and am using the money to buy an engine stand so I can pull out the engine out of the '86 Z24.
I also purchased a new AutoCocker for playing paintball. For 300 dollars, it was a steal.
I'll be hooking up the coolers in the next couple of weeks on the car so I finally will have both the tranny and oil hooked up to their respective coolers. I'll be also pulling the 2.8 out of the '86 in this time too so stay tuned.
11/11/03 Nothing new on the 'blu. Mods for now are nill as all my money is going toward paintball.
The car will be getting a serious tuneup in the next week or two. I''m going to Vicksburg in a few weeks to see a friend for the Thanksgiving holidays. I can't wait.
Brake upgrade is coming soon. Slotted, crossdrilled rotors, braided stainless steel brake lines for the front and the back are going on, will purge the brake fluid of the bad fluid and Carbon Fiber Metallic pads to make the upgrade. New calipers and drums will be new and freshly painted on a non rusty surface. Keep in tune.
12/02/03 Well, the car has developed a misfire in the ignition. I'm not sure if it's the idle air control valve, the temperature sensor or a bad belt tensioner assembly. It doesn't matter as I already have the component to replace the bad parts.
Nothing new other than the slight miss in the engine.
Paintball has been my thing recently. 900 dollars have been spent for new equipment and getting ready to play real soon. I can't wait.
12/09/03 It was a good week and bad at the same time. The idler assembly (tensioner) on the car was a biatch to replace. Intake manifold, alternator, and egr valve had to be removed to get access to the nut holding the tensioner to the mounting bracket. Here is the article I wrote in Club Cavy and here is the page explaining what to do. I also solved the problem of the misfire of the engine. Bosch platinums suck. I was running on 1 cylinder once I got the car running again. Changed the plug and all is good again.
12/27/03 I finally changed the oil (still no time to hook up the oil cooler) in the 'blu, added washers to the rear strut tower brace to assure good, solid security of the bolt getting a good hold. I did however find a place to locate the new remote filter system. I hope it fits.
The car got detailed today as I checked the rear swaybar, rear tie bar and front suspension system for any signs of wear and tear. With a few twists of a wrench, everything seemed nice and tight. All components were cleaned too. It's nice to have a clean car again.
Team Melee is now our paintball team and will be going to our second practice session next week. This is where my money has been going. Heh, right now, I could have a 14 second car. I decided to sink the 1100 dollars into our team and paintball.
I haven't given up on the car, not at all, just a little side tracked.
More to come.
01/09/04 Happy New Year to all. The holidays are finally over with and I''m certainly glad.
I may finally be getting that throttlebody (62mm) and intake manifold from one of the guys in the club. It's from Kevins car (which is being sold) and was in the 14's all engine. I'll keep this updated when possible or as soon as I hear more.
Nothing much more than that going on now.
Team Melee is practicing this weekend again and have the possibility of getting our own air from a used scuba tank and air fill station I won off of E-bay. Heh, my first auction from e-bay and I won. Woot.
More to come once I have time to do more. ;-)
02/01/04 It's Super Bowl Sunday and hope all got their team to win. =)
Nothing new for the 'blu, just been too cold and wet to really do anything with the car. =(
I'm not sure what I want to do with the income tax money. Get some Koni's for the Goldlines I have sitting in the garage, get the brakes upgraded, or go with the larger throttlebody and intake manifold. Decisions, decisions.
Stay tuned.
03/02/04 Not car related but we won our first paintball tournament this past weekend. Here is the information on the win.
Since I've been so heavy into the paintball, work on the car has been stopped, for now.
Once I get my income tax check in, may put some money into the car then.
More tournaments for the team are coming so I'll be quite busy.
See you next time.
03/20/04 Well, it happened. Kevin (from the MSCA car club is selling his '00 Z24 and is parting out his car. I was lucky enough to get his 62mm throttlebody, intake manifold and R1 racing seats. The throttlebody really made a difference in the performance of the car and feels like a different car. Acceleration is effortless in comparison to the 52mm stock tb. The seats are great and really hold you into the seat when driving hard.
The oils been changed, plugs, cleaned the air filter, rotated the tires and car is running great. I'll be going to the track soon to see what the times are for the new tb. Thank you Kevin, much appreciated.
03/31/04 I'm going to the Gulfport Dragway to see what the 'blu will now do. I'll post when I get back from the track. Paintball tournament this Sunday at Paintball Panic for a beginner/ rookie tournament. Well, I almost broke my et record and missed it by 2/1000 of a second. My 1/8 mile improved a bit too. Traction was a big issue as the car does have more power. Going from 2.0-2.2 60' times to 2.287 as my best 60' time at this round, made the car seem slower off of the line. If only they would use VHT on the dragway in Gulfprt. More stuff to come..
04/11/04 I went to the junkyard with Justin of our club and finally found the cams I've been looking for. I got the exhaust cam from a high output Grand Am in the 91 year range with the casting number of the exhaust cam. It was pulled and believe I've found the engine for the donor intake cam from a 1995 2.3 Quad IV engine too. That's getting pulled if it's there and will have the cams I need to add about 20HP to the engine. New air/ fuel gauge is coming next week and brakes are being upgraded as we type. Stay tuned for more.
05/04/04 I got the intake cam to complete the set for the 'blu. It was taken from a '94 Grand Am and had the right casting number on the cam cover. They'll be going into the car soon.
Just finished with the hood in doing my yearly 3-step, paint cleaning process for that nice, super shiney car I like. It was due and the hood looks great. Slotted & crossdrilled rotors are on the way, stainless brake lines are backordered but on the way. I'm reworking my intake system for better flow. I'll be making a write up of the findings with my experiments soon. More coming before I get fully back into paintball.
04/28/04 Yes, got the other cam (intake) from a 1994 Grand Am with the right casting numbers. I now have both intake and exhaust cams and am on the search for the high output injectors for the 'blu. I just got the last of the black lights in the interior and love it at night. T-shirts and jeans really stick out with the black lights. I'm ordering brakes today, new slotted rotors, stainless brake lines and good pads, shoes. More to come.
05/21/04 After spending a total of $460 dollars for brakes, I'm finally going to put them on this coming weekend. Roto-Tech rotors (cross drilled/ slotted rotors), RkSport stainless brake lines, new front calipers, new drums, new drum brake hardware, new DOT4 fluid, and Bendix Titanium metallic pads for the front. I'm also changing the oil and hooking up the oil cooler with the remote oil filter too. It'll be a busy weekend for me but will yield a big improvement for the 'blu. I'm also doing a cai and wai intake study on the car and have this setup on the car right now. I'll have a full report on that in the next couple of weeks.
Stay tuned.
05/25/04 I got the oil cooler hooked up, only half of it. The oil filter adaptor was the wrong one and am having to get one from Mr. Gasket. I should have in a week or two.
I changed the oil and plugs this weekend and would've had the cooler working if the adaptor was right.
Brakes are done and on the car. The car stops super smooth and with a vengeance. They rock and all of the work has paid off.
Stay tuned.
